Watson Homestead COVID-19 Precautions for Guests and Staff

To our Dear Guests,

In order to ensure the safety of our guests and staff, Watson Homestead has adopted the following guidelines, in accord with the Steuben County Department of Public Health and the New York State Department of Health.  As always, group leaders must take responsibility for contractual arrangements between Watson and their respective group. It is our assumption that the group leader will communicate with each member of the visiting group, and share the following information:

2.     Anyone feeling ill, please stay home. We will miss you, but want you and our loved ones to stay healthy! Be especially cognizant of coughing, fever, losing sense of taste or smell.

3.     Group leaders and group members will need to make social distancing adjustments to their reservations, group schedules and activities! Please work with Donna and Anne to assist with this.

4.     We are disinfecting room keys when guest’s check-out and upon arrival.

5.     There is a plastic shield in between our front desk and guests.

6.     Our linen is washed at optimum disinfectant temperature.

7.     Housekeeping disinfects all doorknobs when cleaning rooms and common areas.

8.     Housekeeping will clean public restrooms three or more times per day. In addition, hand sanitizer is available in each restroom.

9.     Corning Catering will follow all CDC recommended procedures when preparing and serving food.

10.  Please encourage all members of your group to wash their hands frequently and use hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer is available throughout our buildings.

11.  When it is not possible to maintain a 6-foot distance wherever you are, facemasks must be worn. Please always carry your facemask with you!

12.  Should guests become ill, develop COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, loss of sense of taste or smell), they must notify the group leader and either go home or stay within the designated quarantine space (here at Watson) until arrangements can be made to go home or to the hospital. Group leaders must inform Watson’s Guest Services Department and/or the Executive Director. A report will be made for the Steuben County Department of Health.

13.  Special guidelines will be posted within specific activity areas including our swimming pool, archery range, basketball court, hiking trails, climbing tower, golf course and fire pits. Large group games and sports are prohibited. Participant numbers may be limited in each area.

14.  Please understand that Watson is required to limit capacity in each area to less than 50%. We know that this is “new,” but so are the times.

16.  We have adopted specific procedures for staff which include daily monitoring of temperature upon arrival to work, requiring that staff remain at home when not feeling well, staying away from Watson if they have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, the provision of facemasks and gloves for all staff, reporting of any/all illness to the Executive Director, staggered staffing, instruction in all new procedures and for all areas of Watson, including amenities. We receive daily up-dates from the NYS and Steuben County Departments of Health.
